Character Information
Character Name: Amren
Fandom: A Court of Thorns and Roses

Character History: The Wiki has some of her history but it's very brief about what happened before the events in the books.
Originally, Amren is not from the world of Prythian, nor is she originally a High Fae. Amren isn't even her original name, but it is unknown what
Before The Cauldron and the Mother created Prythian, Amren was a Death Angel in a world similar to the one depicted in the Old Testament. While her kind usually didn't have emotions outside of happiness and annoyance, according to her she was made with a curious heart. When her "Father" ordered the destruction of the twin cities, a rift formed in the sky. This rift was the result of the Mother creating Prythian, the power of it creating dimensional rifts in different realities. Because of her curiosity, she stopped in the middle of the battle and went through the rift and arrived in a newly created Prythian. Unfortunately for her, the rift closed shortly after she went through, trapping her in the new world.
At some point after her arrival, due to her power being deemed too dangerous, she was captured and put in a place called The Prison, a place where the most foulest and dangerous creatures (some of which were from other worlds) are kept under guard of very powerful spells. For several millennium Amren was kept here. It got to the point where she forgot what the sun and the sky even looked like. Out of desperation she found a loophole in the spells that guarded the Prison. Compressing her power and binding herself into a High Fae body, she was able to walk out without alerting the guards.
It's unclear what she did in the 10,000 years between her escape and the current events in series. It is safe to assume she stayed in the Night Court and eventually became one of the protectors of Velaris, the hidden city within the Night Court. When Rhysand became the High Lord of the Night Court, she became part of his inner circle even becoming his second-in-command.
She also gained a reputation among the other Courts of being some sort of Boogieman, where parents will tell their children Amren will come to drink their blood if they don't behave.
During the first book of the series, she was confind to Velaris for 50 years with the rest of the Rhysand's inner circle in order to protect it while he was trapped Under the Mountain. Since she was Rhysand's second in command, she was mainly in charge, and worked closely with the goveners of the city to keep the city and its citizens safe. Once Rhysand and the other High Lords were freed from the Mountain, she was more than happy to return power back to him.
Then Ferye came into the Velaris and Amren was extremely interested in her, since she was another person who was made into a High Fae, though Ferye was originally human. This was probably the cause of her becoming quite fond of the other woman. When Ferye was nervous about going to the Prison to speak with one of the inmates, Amren gave her one of her own pendants and made up a story that it was enchanted and the reason she was able to escape. It wasn't until Ferye tired to return the pendant that she admitted that it was just a piece of jewelry that she forgot about and found at the bottom of a drawer.
Amren later accompanies Rhysand and Ferye to the Summer Court to get the first half of the Book of Breathings, an ancient book that was to be used to nullify the Cauldron. While there she helped Ferye break into the vault the book was held by destroying the wards. Those this action caused the High Lord of the Summer Court to send her a blood ruby, a sign that they now have a price on her head. Though she really didn't seemed to mind that too much as she used the ruby as a paper weight for some documents.
When the Book of Breathing was made whole again, Amren was put in charge of translating it, as she was the only one who could read the "Holy Tongue" script written in the book.

Character Personality: Originally, Amren didn't have many emotions, but she was unique among her kind in the fact that she was curious, which was the reason she ended up in another realm in the first place. And though she had changed greatly throughout the ages, she still had her curious trait. For instance, she will often try new things for short periods of time before deciding that they weren't for her. This was how painting supplies ended up in a store room in a cabin that the Inner Circle often went to on a retreat.
Over the ages she spent as a High Fae she gained more emotions though most of the time she is sarcastic, snarky, and a bit short tempered. She tends to avoid social events, but when she does go to one she enjoys seeing how she makes others uncomfortable with her presence.
One of the things that Amren desires the most is to be able to return to her original form and go back to her own realm. Though later on in the series, she is a bit torn about this. She does indeed care about her friends and even considers them family so when the chance for her to return to her original form presents itself, she does hesitate briefly since she is sure that she would not remember them when she turns back into a death angel.
Amren also has a fondness for the preforming arts, and even has her modest apartment near the theater section of Velaris. She is also apartly a sports fan, though the book never goes into describing the sport. What is known is that she is a fan of a certain team and knows all the stats of the players and will get into heated discussions about the subject.
Amren also has an obsession when it comes to gems and jewelry, and is often described as a fire drake protect its treasure. There was even an instance where buildings were almost destroyed when someone tried to barrow something from her collection. So it seemed to shock several other characters when she gave the pendant to Ferye as it seemed like something completely out of character for her. This obsession goes as far for not to see the blood ruby she received as a threat. Rather she saw it as another piece to add to her collection, and even used it as a paperweight. Even when the Summer Court's High Lord retracted the bounty later on, she refused to return to jewel.

Powers and Abilities: Illusion Manipulation: Amren can create visions and illusions to others just by pointing her finger at them. These can range from the feeling of choking and drowning to nightmares becoming really. The illusion can be so strong that people can have died from them, believing they have truly drowned or died of fright.
Healing: Though very limited, Amren does know healing magic. Not enough to completely heal someone from mortal wounds but enough to stabilize them until they can get proper help.
Creating and destroying wards: Amren is able to create protective wards big and strong enough to protect a whole city. She is also able to detect and destroy protective wards created by others, though the more powerful and older the ward, the more difficult it is for her to destroy it.
Fire and Light: Amren's true form is a winged being of fire and light, and is able to incinerate anything around her. But if she does run the risk of burning out completely if she uses that power for to long.

Samples

Network: Your network sample entry should be made as if your character were posting to a public network, such as Dreamwidth. It does not have to be their first post (ie, "OMG WHERE AM I?!"), but it does have to show that the character is perfectly aware of the fact that this is something that other people are likely to see. Please avoid excessive use of descriptions in [action tags] here, as one would get in video posts - we're looking for your character's voice, the one they use for talking to others. Save the internal monologues for the third person sample.

If you use TDM for your network sample it needs to meet the following requirements:
* Taken from the Test Drive Meme for The Wake and not any other game
* Contains at least 12 comments from the character being applied for
* Contains enough material for us to see how the character is like
* Has to reflect their first person voice

Third Person: 300 word minimum. This is the place to show your character's inner thoughts within the setting. Give us a nice third person narrative of your character doing something, plus how they feel about it. This doesn't have to be blatant "this is what my character is thinking, designated by italics!" but should rather show your character's self via their actions and interactions with their environment.
